Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "Observing the Cries of the World." She stands upon strong, rolling winds and holds a lotus flower in her left hand. The statue is hollow and is pierced through her ears, eyes, and nostrils. 18th/19th Century Size: 12" height, 4.5" width

The bottom of the box has crashing waves and a large fish sticking its head out from the water. The bottom of the box is marked Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi, "Great Qing Qianlong Period Make". A butterfly has been carved near the base, a symbol for longevity, beauty, and elegance.
