A rare Japanese antique Kyoto Choba (merchant) Tansu in 2 sections made entirely of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original iron fittings and wiped lacquer finish including the Hikute style handles. Very unusual design of a kitchen chest (Mizuya Dansu) with storage drawers throughout the entire chest.

Rare early 20th century Korean red lacquer cabinet with elaborate inlaid designs adorning the front of the chest. Four sections in total including the base. Imagery of exotic birds, deer, and turtles among a assortment of flowers can be seen throughout. Estand (four pull out drawers).
Styled in traditional Korean fashion with double hinged doors on the top section and single hinged doors on the bottom compartment.

Chinese antique very tall standing Buddha carved of stone. Buddha's right hand is raised in Abhayamudra (have no fear) and the left in Varadamudra (generosity and compassion). The drapery of his dhoti is carved in the manner of T'ang figures. Beautiful facial features give the commanding presence of the statue a sense of serenity and calm. Traces of polychrome pigment. With custom metal base.

Rare Burl Keyaki Japanese Ishikawa Fune Ship Chest
Japanese Rare Ishikawa Fune Tansu. Full face as well as inside drawer fronts are made up of burl keyaki hardwood. Frame is 100% keyaki hardwood with kiri wood inside drawer construction. All edges are clad in hand forged iron for added protection. These are said to be made so well, that if the ship were to sink, this chest would float just below the surface for retrieval. This is a very rare and wonderful Japanese funa-dansu (sea chest for ship) example.
