Chinese wood carved plaque, created by two grandsons in memoriam of their deceased grandmother for what would have been her 70th birthday. The four large characters are "Peng Hu Chang Chun", which translates to "The flagons of the immortal beings in Penglai never get old". Each mirror is carved with scrolling floral decoration and silver gilt on linden wood. The main body of the mirror is oxidized and cut. The surround is individually fitted on to outer frames. The mirror is also decorated with a top central crested mirror. *Note the other pair has a replaced mirror. From the Mondavi Estate.

Chinese scholar rock of an over hanging ying stone, mounted on a carved Suzhou rosewood stand with five cabriole legs and an undulating stretcher. The base is decorated in high relief of lingzhi fungus and swirling clouds. Gongshi, also known as scholar's rocks, are naturally occurring or shaped rocks, which are traditionally appreciated by scholars. Chinese small carved jade ink stone and brush washer in one piece. The ink stone side is carved with a leaning pine tree and mist. Turned on its reverse side, it functions as a brush washer. The sides are incised with a key fret motif.

19th century

Dimensions: 3 1/8" long x 2 1/2" wide x 1/2" deep.

A small Japanese bronze vase, finely cast with lotus blossoms in relief. The upper and lower body cast with bands of archaic scrolls. The side handles are dragon heads with hanging rings. The side is marked with artist's two character seal.

Dimensions: 2 3/4" W x 4 1/2" H

The everted flanges are joined to the end of the top and rail, and the spandrel is of two scrolling dragons carved in low relief. The legs of the table rest on horizontal feet. Between the legs are a carved pendant of double motifs of ruyi scepters and pair of scrolling dragons.

Dimensions: 80" L x 17 1/2" D x 35 1/2" H

The set is entirely carved in high relief of lingzhi fungus intertwined and layered, creating an imaginative form of a deer, frog, and other figures. The throne-like chair with a waist, five panel slats and stiles, and slight carved cabriole legs all finely carved and connected. The tea table is waist high with a mitered corner and a smooth surface. The cabriole legs are supported with an additional stretcher for strength.

The whole body, except for the top, is carved in relief with lingzhi fungus of hardwood of rosewood family. The waist, the apron, and the connecting joints are also decorated. The legs are slight cabriole leg with block carved hoof feet.
