Small Antique Japanese  Tansu
Charming Japanese small tansu (merchant's chest) in original red lacquer finish with black lacquer frame, made with Kuri (chestnut) front drawers and Sugi (cypress) sides. Decorative floral iron locks on each drawer with key included. Would make an excellent bed side chest or small table/chest for living room.

Rare Japanese Mikuni Tansu
Rare Japanese bar tansu from the Mikuni region, made with Hinoki (cypress) wood front panels and Sugi (cedar) wood top and sides. Heavy in weight, with structural bars along the back and sides, all original deep red lacquer finish, the front locking bar with highly ornate iron display of auspicious motifs and turtle shaped lock pin.

Edo period (1603-1868) Circa 1830's.

Antique Japanese Funa Tansu (ship safe chest) made all of quarter sawn cut Keyaki (elm) wood with revealing natural woodgrain and finish. Cut out appliqué hardware with incised floral motifs adorns the body of the tansu. There are six drawers altogether.

Adorned with a red lacquer Keyaki hardwood frame, along with Keyaki (elm) front panels of a golden honey original finish. Highly functional design with many drawers of various sizes, including an unusual long shallow one below a set of sliding door panels with a shelved interior.
