Antique Japanese 2-section, 3ft. Mizuya made with Hinoki (cedar) and Sugi (cypress) hardwoods, accented by gorgeous Keyaki (elm) burl wood front panels in a lovely contrast to the frame. Both the upper and lower section house a large central compartment with shelving for the storage of kitchen articles, with 2 and 3 burl front drawers beneath respectively.

Antique Japanese kannon biraki tansu of an unusual small size, made of Kiri (paulownia) wood. The front of the chest is covered in ornate iron hardware with studs. The central lock is a motif of Kiri leaves with two door pulls. The doors open to a shelved interior space with two exterior drawers below. All original condition.

A Beautiful unusual Japanese display cha dana tansu, with 3 sets of sliding Keyaki burl front panels with copper handle pulls, 11 drawers with iron warabite handles, and an open compartment with shelves for the display of tea ceremony articles. This piece features a secret compartment hidden underneath one of the top panels.

Rare Japanese Funa Tansu known as a Ship Captain's vault chest. Made with beautiful original thick Hinoki (Japanese cedar) wood, with triangular mortis and tenon joinery. The corners and drawers are accented by attractive ash color iron plating. The inside of the chest holds a unique array of seven drawers in a natural finish, with hirute type drawer pulls and all but three with additional locks.

Antique Japanese two section Kannon Biraki tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) wood, original red lacquer finish. The top section houses two large drawers behind a pair of double hinged doors. Decorations of iron hardware include a charming heart shaped lock within a single iron ring and strips of iron across the front of each door, with chrysanthemum shaped studs. Antique Japanese Sakata region choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of Kiri (paulownia) hardwood, with original red lacquer finish. The top drawer and safe box door are covered in more elaborate iron hardware than the other drawers, with motifs of lingzhi mushrooms, bamboo stalks, and other floral elements.
