Korean Personal Single Section Cabinet
Antique Korean single section cabinet made with elm wood and hardwood burl panels. Hardware is made of brass. Beautiful rich patina. The upper portion has four small drawers in a horizontal row along the very top. The body of the chest is mostly made up of two large compartments opened by hinged doors.

19th century

Chinese hardwood cabinet made with Jumu (elm) or "chicken wing" wood and brass pulls and mounts. The double front doors showcase the dramatic natural grain. Behind each set of doors are a red lacquered interior with single shelving. The mid section of the cabinet holds two drawers that open with auspicious lucky bat handles.

Japanese Antique Keyaki Wood Choba Tansu
Antique Japanese choba tansu made of keyaki (elm) wood. The top portion has two small drawers. The middle portion has a compartment opened by sliding panels with horizontal slats. The slats are made of quarter sawn keyaki wood which dramatically accents the striped quality of the wood grain. Below this is a single large drawer. The hardware is made of iron and includes round lock plates.

The long narrative scroll depicts miracles revolving around a monk named Myoren who lived on Mount Shigi. According to the legends, Myoren was drawn to Mount Shigi by a Buddha statue. He built a shrine there and, that winter, he survived on rice provided to him by his roving rice bowl. Japanese set of 12 flathead piercing tip arrows. Polished, forged steel tips. Mounted on a circular presentation base. Ya used in war by the samurai had a variety of tips called yajiri or yanone; these arrowheads were forged using the same steel (tamahagane) and methods as traditional Japanese swords. There are many different kinds of arrowhead and they all have their own special name. Togari-ya is a simple pointed design.
