Antique Japanese Buddhist Temple lantern made of gilt copper with a wooden interior armature and iron handle. This six sided lantern is decorated all over with ornate pierced karakusa, scrolling arabesque filigree. Both top and bottom of the lantern have six trapezoidal friezes, each with a three dimensional medallion in it's center depicting alternating crests of blossoms and Buddhist symbols. The interior is lined with it's original paper.

Antique Korean blue and white porcelain square water dropper, raised on 4 short L-shaped feet with artist's signature in cobalt blue on the base. Design of flowers on the top surface in cobalt blue underglaze.

Japanese antique tall ikebana basket, made of split bamboo. This basket has an elongated square body separated into two different treatments. The upper portion of the basket is woven in a diagonal criss cross pattern while the bottom is woven with straight vertical pieces. The handle is made of twisted wisteria branch sections. The front of the basket is also decorated with a branch of gnarled wisteria.

Antique Japanese ikebana (flower arranging) basket, very finely hand-woven with thin strips of bamboo. Its form is narrow towards the mouth of the basket and flutes slightly towards the squared base, with four knot-woven feet, and the frame of the basket is reinforced with thicker bamboo sections, secured with tight coils. The handle is formed by natural Wisteria burl root. With hand inscribed signature on the base.

A very large pair of hardwood transom / temple architectural elements, elaborately carved with charming motifs of squirrels eating from grape vines. The carvings are deeply recessed with raised outside edges of a scrolling form. Realistic grape vines and leaves continue along the underside of each transom. Very heavy. Antique Japanese 2-section, 3ft. Mizuya made with Hinoki (cedar) and Sugi (cypress) hardwoods, accented by gorgeous Keyaki (elm) burl wood front panels in a lovely contrast to the frame. Both the upper and lower section house a large central compartment with shelving for the storage of kitchen articles, with 2 and 3 burl front drawers beneath respectively.

Antique Chinese mahjong table, made of mixed hardwoods, with four marble inlay chairs. Each side of the table holds a secret drawer hidden within.

Japanese Nanga sumi-e ink scroll painting on silk depicting a scene of two men in a boat entitled "Water Cloud Mountain Pavilion". A scholar and a young man sit in a boat, the scholar has an open book, the young man, a pole. Between them is a handled box. A jagged out cropping of rock rises from the water where stunted trees stretch their branch over the water. River grasses and rocks fill the foreground, a few birds fly over the pair in the boat, and in the distance is a faint outline... Click for details

Antique Chinese scroll painting, with Daoist monks, monkeys, and deer underneath a gnarled peach tree. A young Daoist monk holding a bamboo staff outstretches his arms as a helpful monkey drops peaches to him, while an immortal man rests calmly against a tree branch, observing two small deer. The imagery of the deer, the monkeys, and the peaches are representative of prosperity and longevity. Signed with two red chops.
