Antique Chinese beautifully carved altar cabinet, made of jumu wood, flanged top, the top portion has four drawers carved with flowers, the middle portion has two large compartments opened by four drawers on dowel hinges and carved with lions and flowers, the bottom portion has four drawers with no carving, late 19th century. Pair of rare hanging apsaras, also known in Japanese as Kuyo Bosatsu or Hiten. The style of the face, the soft appearance of the hands, and the flowing robes are fine examples of the highest quality in Edo Period Buddhist sculpture. One apsara may have been holding an object to offer the Buddhas, while the other is carrying drumsticks and appears to be hitting the drum the apsara is carrying. A small sized Kutani ware censer decorated with motif of chrysanthemums and calligraphy inscribed on a circular base and on the lid's hand scroll like design,all the work meticulously executed by hand.
