Beautiful famille rose porcelain vase depicting several of the Eight Immortals from Chinese mythology. The man on the far left wearing an orange robe resembles Lu Dongbin, the Tang Dynasty scholar who later became elevated to the status of an Immortal. The eldest man in the center bears some likeness to the Immortal Zhongli Quan and wears a beautiful multi-toned robe of browns, greens, and blues, and wears a mass of flowers and leaves like a crown, which a blue-robed man, wearing a brown striped cap, is shown fixating upon his head. A young girl is shown offering a plate of food and drink to him. To the far right is shown the only female Immortal, He Qiong. She is holding a staff with a blue ribbon and a gourd bottle wrapped around its tip, and is wearing a green and red robe. The last character to the farthest left of the scene is a very young boy shown carrying a knapsack and smiling up at his elders. Vase is stamped on the bottom. Republic period
