Antique Chinese porcelain figure of one of the Three Star Gods (Longevity, Prosperity, Happiness). This is the God of Happiness, or the Fu star, with wonderful and elaborate famille-rose enamel mandarin robes with flowers and flower pots on his robes. He also holds a small child, which is one of his recognizable attributes. He is said to have once lived as governor Yang Cheng of Daozhou. Yan Cheng had risked his life writing a memorial to the emperor in order to abolish dwarf slavery. His face is accented with pierced through areas on his ears, nostrils, and facial hair. Included is a hardwood stand that has been carved to fit the base. 1875-1900 late Ching Dynasty, reign of Emperor Kwang-Hsu. Size: 15.25" height w/ stand, 14" height w/o stand, 4.5" width
