Antique Japanese bronze yatate, a pipe shaped container for the carrying of cotton saturated with calligraphy ink with a long shaft for a brush. The main component is cylindrical in shape with an inner compartment and an outer decorative area with scrolling vines and flowers. The lid has a kiri leaf design. The brush shaft has a fu dog towards the top and scrolling vines with kiri leaves running down towards the end, where it stands on an elephant's head.
