Originating from Matsumoto Castle in Japan, this one-of-a-kind safety vault Tansu was made using thick old growth Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware accentuates the beauty and design of this amazing chest. Two massive doors with five hinges each with 2 upper, 1 center and 2 lower locks all requiring the included key to unlock. Vertical Warabite handles act as pulls to open the doors behind which hides 12 shelves and four small locking drawers with burled hardwood fronts.
The chest sits on its strong base which prevented moisture from building-up to the underside during the humid summer months. An absolutely stunning Tansu in original condition. Very rare since few were ever made and even fewer are now in existence.
