Antique Thai cast bronze figure of Garuda crouched on his haunches, with wings open wide. Garuda is the faithful friend and vahana (vehicle) of Vishnu. He is depicted here in anthropomorphic form, with human body but with wings, beak and and legs of an eagle-like sun bird. Garuda is the personification of courage and the enemy of naga, the serpent.
