Zentner Collection: Antique Japanese Tansu, Asian Works of Art
A rare Japanese antique porcelain okimono of a skull entwined with a snake.  Made of porcelain and realistically rendered. Fine details in every crevice.  Some teeth are missing (original to the work).  The snake has detailed scales highlighted in a darker tones.  It is twisting around the cranium and pushes through the right eye socket.  Comes with its original Japanese tomobako (wooden storage box) with a label that reads Mayoke Ko-To-Sei Dokuro (Protective Old Ceramic Skull).
