Antique edo-period Japanese funa tansu (captioan sea chest) was used on merchant vessels to store valuables and documents securely. The chest is made with a burl keyaki (zelkova) hardwood front and a sugi (cedar) body, reinforced with hand-forged iron hardware, including corner brackets, lock plates, and hand forged carrying handles.
The interior features multiple drawers for organized storage. The top drawer spans the full width, while the lower section contains six smaller drawers. The removable front panel locks into place for security.
