Antique Thai temple figure of Kinnari, the celestial female who, with her male counterpart, Kinnara, are guardians of the Kalpataru tree (Tree of Life). Kinnara-Kinnari are followers of Bathara Indra and are heavenly artists specializing in music and poetry. These heavenly beings symbolize faithfulness, grace and love while they watch over humans during times of trouble or danger. This figure is made of bronze and painted gold with red details. There are remnants of tiny multi-colored mirrors inlaid on the wings.
