An unusual thick leather hide samurai jingasa hat. Stunning original textured finish, complete with copper hardware. Inside is lacquered dark original red tones. Some losses, overall very good condition.
Jingasa were worn by samurai and ashigaru (foot soldiers) as lightweight protective headgear, serving both practical and symbolic purposes in battle.
