Bio: Born in Oakland, California, he grew up in a family of artists; his father, Louis, was also a painter, as was his stepmother, Edna Stoddart. After studying at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, his artistic career evolved to encompass a range of styles, from pure abstraction to plein-air landscapes. In the 1970s, he joined a group of Bay Area artists who sought to revive traditional painting styles, collectively known as the Society of Six. Exhibition History: Artist’s works have been exhibited in the Arts of San Francisco Show at the San Francisco Museum of Art, the 1959 Annual Exhibit of Contemporary American Paintings, Whitney Museum of Art. His work is in the collection of The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Fine Art Museums of San Francisco, Oakland Museum of CA, and among others.
