Striking antique kutani yaki (九谷焼) plate featuring a central image of pheasants beneath blooming chrysanthemums, symbols of nobility and longevity in Japanese art. The design is set against a geometric scale-patterned background, bordered by vivid alternating green, red, and gold geometric motifs, and presented on a scalloped rim form.
This Kutani plate is finely hand-painted with polychrome overglaze enamels, a hallmark of Kutani ceramic tradition dating back to the 17th century. It includes its original signed tomobako (kiri wood storage box signed by the artist along with documents.
Excellent original condition.
