Mid century Japanese cha tansu (tea cabinet) made from striking persimmon wood, admired for its dramatic grain and warm amber tones. This single-section storage piece dates to the mid-20th century (Showa period) and reflects the refined functional aesthetic of Japanese cabinetry.
The upper portion features a glass-fronted display compartment with sliding doors, designed to showcase tea wares, lacquer pieces, or decorative ceramics. A sculptural stepped shelf inside the right compartment adds dimensional interest and visual rhythm to the interior. The left display compartment retains its original mirrored backing, enhancing both light and depth.
Below, the tansu is fitted with a series of drawers and sliding wood-panel doors, offering versatile storage for household items or tea utensils. The iron pulls and traditional joinery further reflect its quality craftsmanship.
Overall very good condition, ready to be enjoyed.
