Japanese antique maki-e lacquer jūbako, tiered boxes for food. Made up of five square compartments and a lid. The lacquer design is of bamboo and tendrils of berry vines (either Japanese wineberry or raspberry) in gold and red lacquer on a black ground. The insides of the boxes are lacquered an orangish-red.
