Japanese antique kimono with crane and turtle design. The kimono is made of cotton and dyed a light blue color. Beautifully decorated with colorful paste resist designs.
The upper back of the kimono has a crane and a large red "daki myoga" (embracing ginger) crest. The crest is not tied to any specific family but is instead a popular symbol of blessings and divine favor.
The bottom portion of the kimono is decorated with a scene of waves, fish and Sho Chiku Bai (the three friends of winter: pine, bamboo and plum. Also, a crane and turtle "Tsuru-Kame" symbolizing fidelity, prosperity and long life.
