Chinese antique group of 5 pottery court attendant figures and palanquin. Sancai glaze with green, yellow and black. The faces and hands are painted with slip. The palanquin is similarly glazed and has nice yellow drips.

Antique Chinese bitong (brush pot) carved of hardwood with beautiful grain patterns. The mouth and foot of the container have a fine cusped edge. The bottom is carved with three low feet. The bitong has a pleasing overall shape with a slight flare towards the top.

Large Chinese yellow Peking glass vase. Dramatic baluster form with tall neck and rounded foot. The rim displays how many layers of glass it took to create this vase. The color is a vivid golden/yellow color previously reserved for imperial use.

Chinese hardwood ruyi scepter carved in the shape of a stylized lingzhi. Decorated with writing and designs of fruit, bats, fish, lingzhi mushrooms and other symbols of good fortune. Ruyi scepters were used by the noble class to hold or display as a symbols of power and good fortune and they were used by Buddhist monks in teaching. And later ruyi scepters became a traditional gift and prized object for the scholar's table.

Chinese scroll painting by Huang Zhou of two ladies writing on a black board. They are beautifully dressed in traditional garb.
Huang Zhou was born in 1925 in Hebei Province. He is famous for his naturalistic paintings of people and animals. After his schooling, he ventured deep into the border areas of China to paint the ethnic minorities there. The Muslim ladies in this painting are from Kashgar prefecture, southwest of Xinjiang. Chinese fan painting of two cats by the artist Xu Beihong. The cats, one with eyes wide, the other asleep, crouch on a rock under a leafy branch. Xu Beihong (1895-1953) was born in rural Yixing, Jiangsu Province. His father was a private school teacher and Xu began painting at the age of 9.
