Antique Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644) Chinese gilt bronze scholar scroll weight in the form of a chimera. The mythical water dragon-like creature semi-coils it's body. Made of cast bronze with original gilt finish. Original finish consistent with age.
Scholar-officials were the elite class of imperial China. They were highly educated, especially in literature and the arts.

Antique Chinese rectangular caligraphy box made from white brass, with built-in inkstone. The interior has old ink patina. The lid is inscribed with auspicious calligraphy and signature. Dates from 19th century.

Chinese jade seal with a serpentine chimera coiled around the top. The chimera body is finely and continuously carved with the beast's horns are carved connected to its back and its tail curls around to connect with its front leg. Dates from the Ming dynasty.

Chinese clear quartz crystal container, hand-carved in the form of a blossoming lotus. The container has a tall bud finial lid carved with lotus pods. The crystal is carved smooth with natural inclusions.

Antique Chinese ruyi scepter made of hardwood and three carved sections of white jade. The upper section is carved with a scene of two boys and an elephant. The middle section of jade is carved with two boys holding a large vase with flowers. Incredibly intricate and detailed Antique Chinese table carving made predominantly of zitan wood. Deeply carved with detailed dragons and clouds on one side, phoenixes on carved lattice on the back. Dramatic hexagonal shape on intricately carved stand. Some losses but overall great condition.

Antique Chinese pair of stone temple fu dogs. These fierce guardians would have been placed on either side of the entrance to a Buddhist temple in order to ward off evil spirits. One statue has its mouth open and the other mouth is closed, a symbolic trait to represent the in-and-out breathing of life and the sound of “om.” Heavy in weight.

Chinese porcelain water coupe, with a monochrome oxblood red underglaze. The rounded, half circle form has a short, fluted neck, and flattened recessed base with blue signature.

Dimensions: 5 1/4" x 4" H

Pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain cups, with small hand carved hardwood wood stands. Each cup has a calligraphy inscription with two chops, imagery of flying cranes and a house below a pine tree. Each cup is signed with two character mark on the foot.
