Whimsical antique Japanese netsuke of two octopi in embrace, carved in beautiful cherry amber with lots of little details. The Japanese would wear small stacked containers called inro from their belts or sash. Inro boxes were held together by a long cord running down its sides that looped at the top, held together by a netsuke bead and an ojime bead. The cord would run through the two holes featured on this netsuke. 19th century Size: 1.5" tall x 1.5" wide

Japanese painting circa 1880 of two warriors carrying torches titled "Soga Turo Sukenari and Soga Goro Tokimasa", based on the 13th century tale in which two brothers avenge their deceased father during the Gen Pei wars. Charming rustic Japanese antique jizai hook for heating water over a fire, made of keyaki (elm) wood and carved in the shape of a fish, beautiful wood grain with a deep patina from years of use, an iron hook is attached to the tail, a rope or chain would have threaded through a vertical hole from head to mouth, Edo Period (early to mid 19th century). Total size: 15" long x 6 1/2" high (fish is 4" high)

An antique Japanese Wood Buddhist altar fitting known as a keman. The hand fan like shape were thought to have originated from flower garland offerings seen in India. The keman is decorated with motifs of lotuses with two apsaras. The top of the keman has the crest of the Tokugawa family. Age: Edo Period 17/18th century, Size: Length 25" Height 9.5" Width 1.5"

A refined Japanese square porcelain vase decorated with grape vines, chrysanthemums, and other auspicious motifs. The images used are inspired from designs from Momoyama period works of art. Antique Japanese Boxwood Persimmon and Chestnut Netsuke, these edible objects arranged together are the charming symbols of the fall season. This bibelot has a softly rubbed and smoothed surface and it's himatoshi has unequally sized holes. Size 1.25"High x 1.25" Wide, Edo Period, circa pre 1850s.

An antique Japanese bronze water pot or ewer decorated and shaped in the style emulating Chinese Shang dynasty bronzes. The tripod leg often is referring to the ding where it was thought that these vessels were used to serve wine. Has a Kanji charactor on base that can be translated to men "to offer".
