A triptych print, the scene is of the tyrant Taira no Kiyomori as he writhes in fever just before death. According to legend, the evil Kiyomori burned down a temple and is fetched for retribution by Emma-o the King of Hell, Kiyomori's wife and son kneel and pray for his salvation while demons and the souls of Kiyomori's victims surround him. Gold leaf layer down with hand painted mineral pigments on paper. A touch of young pine come through on the hill side. Beautifully painted and in excellent original condition.

Japanese four prong Vajra or diamond thunderbolt form Chisakuin Temple, bronze with worn gilt, Edo age (over 200 years old). Very powerful ritual tool representing firmness of spirit and spiritual power. Worn gilt on one side, all over relief, double sided with lotus flower in center, trident prongs emerging from the four cardinal directions. Size: 6 1/8" long

Lovely antique Japanese large rectangular tray with a scene of a woman gazing at the moon (inlaid mother of pearl), she is sitting near a small stream with flowers and grasses, misty clouds above, the tray is made of kiri wood and the decoration is made of beautiful cherry wood bark, outer sides are also covered in cherry bark, Taisho Period. Size: 24 3/4" long x 15 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" deep.

Japanese antique iron tomiodaie (Shinto candle stand), flaming drop shape hoju no tama, the wish granting symbol which grants enlightenment and release from earthly desires, Japanese writing on the cloud like portion at the bottom of the drop, holds 12 candles, Taisho/Showa Period. (c 1930). Size: 42 1/4" high x 23 1/2" wide x 11" deep (at base).
