Taisho period (1912 to 1925) Japanese Bronze, beautifully cast of a child teasing a goose with a wafer. Cartouche signature Tadamitsu-saku. A later dedication on the base from Tokyo Gaikokugo Gakko Korinkai dated June 1940. Measures 19" high.

Japanese Antique Firemen's Coat Sashiko Stitched Hanten
Sashiko stitched fabric. Tsutsugaki dyed cloth. Indigo background with red and white design. Two horizontal bands wrap around bottom of coat. Similar to reference work "Sumi Collection Hanten and Happi" coats on page 25. Used by firemen in late 19th century Japan to extinguish blazes. Hook and eye closure. Measures 49" sleeve to sleeve 49" long. Overall good condition, small wear on neck and side.

Yoshitoshi Woodblock Print of Taira no Kiyomori
Japanese woodblock print by Yoshitoshi, Tsukioka (1839-1892) entitled "The Fever of Taira no Kiymori". A triptych print, the scene is of the tyrant Taira no Kiyomori as he writhes in fever just before death. According to legend, the evil Kiyomori burned down a temple and is fetched for retribution by Emma-o the King of Hell, Kiyomori's wife and son kneel and pray for his salvation while demons and the souls of Kiyomori's victims surround him.
