A pair of Japanese Edo Period scroll paintings by the painter Sumiyoshi Hiroyuki (1755-1811) , one of a dragon in the clouds and another of a tiger in a bamboo thicket, skillfully painted in sumi ink on silk and signed by the artist. The painter, Hiroyuki was as disciple of the painter, Hiromori and a of successor of the Sumiyoshi School which worked primarily for the Shogunate of Edo Period. The front panels are made of a gorgeous, warm Keyaki burl wood in original finish. There are several round iron lock plates that are incised with kiri leave. The handles to the sliding doors are also incised with floral patterns. There is a side lockbox with beautiful decorative hardware that conceals three small drawers within. Beautiful Japanese antique wedding kimono made of chirimen silk (crepe) and decorated all over with a scene of a river and blossoming plum trees in a rural pavilion setting, the design is done in a paste resist with a delicate blending of colors, silk embroidered details are accented with extensive use of gold thread and small areas of shibori technique. The kimono is lined in a salmon color silk and padded along the hem and edges of sleeves. Meiji Period. Size: 63" high x 51" wide

Antique Japanese coral brooch that has been very finely carved into seeds of millet and delicate curling leaves with soft, notched edges. The coral has wonderful natural striations of a lighter pink hue. Each carved piece is mounted separately, making it very unique. Size: 1.75" length

Antique Japanese 4 piece wood carving of Fudō Myō-ō, the center deity of the Myō-ō in Buddhist mythology. The Myō-ō are wrathful incarnations of the Five Buddhas of Wisdom. This Fudo has been wonderfully and carefully carved with a large wall of purifying flames behind him.
