Wonderful hand-carving from teak wood depicting Ganesha, the Hindu god of beginnings. He is easily identifiable by his elephant's head and four arms, two of which are shown holding his own broken tusks, and one of which is grasping his nose. He sits under an archway upon a hippopotamus with its head turned straight upward. Early 20th century (1900-1925) Size: 9.75" tall, 5.75" wide

Garuda, in Hindu mythology, an eagle is the vahana (mount) of the god Vishnu. An original Burmese hand-carved wooden mythological Garuda bird/human. Shown here as an eagle with Deer antlers and leather "feathers" shown on the sides and top of its head. Southeast Asian brass bowl with copper and silver overlay, most likely used in a ritualistic manner. It has round, copper accents going around the top and bottom of the bowl, as well as geometric shape allover design. The image of a silver, multi-armed figure holding a serpent also appears going around the bowl, possibly some kind of deity, some have been defaced. Early 20th century Size: 2.5" tall, 4" wide

Antique Bronze hand of Buddha from Thailand. The hand itself holds different meanings, depending on how it is being gestured. Fingers up and palm facing outwards means fearlessness and protection, fingers down and palm outwards means gift giving or bestowal, and fingers down and palm inwards is the gesture of earth witness, which Buddha is said to have been made during his Enlightenment. Set of two bronze Thai sculptures portraying a similar look to a pair usually seen in Thai temples of Buddha's main disciples, Ananda and Mahakasyapa. The one with hands held together is often the style seen for the image of Ananda and the other, interestingly enough, is holding a flower which represents a famous parable when the Buddha silently picked a flower and smiled, Mahakasyapa too silently smiled marking the transmission of the dharma. Antique Nepalese bronze bodhisatva seated on a double lotus throne. The piece has the original copper base with stamped design. The robes of the figure are skillfully incised with a beautiful cloud and scrolling vine design. The hands are in muddra as they hold a small container. Some old loses. It measures 8" tall 5 " wide 3" deep. 19th century, obtained in the 1960s in Katmandu .
