Framed Balinese Kampuh Songket Men's Ceremonial Wrapper
Antique framed Balinese kampuh songket, a men's ceremonial wrapper cloth, handmade with supplementary weft silk, cotton, gold and silver thread. The red ground cloth with gold and silver thread motifs of pairs of robed standing figures wielding staffs with butterflies, and fierce heads above with gaping mouths, full of sharp teeth and long tongues. The edges are bordered in zig zag patterns, geometric scrolls, and woven script in gold and silver thread.

Double ikat, hand-spun cotton with natural dyes, exhibiting the Wayang keno kneeling figures in threaded in rust brown. Wayang Keno are known as the triad of three Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. This textile is and would have been believed to possess healing properties as the name means "no disease". (Gering = disease, sing = no).
From the Tenganan Pegringsingan village in East Bali. Overall in very good original condition.

An unusually large size bronze rain drum from Laos, a Herger type three drum. Reference material "The Karen Bronze drum of Burma" by Richard M. Cooler. It has an unusual 3 frogs (twelve altogether) on top with a twelve pointed star with continuing concentric circle with stamp decoration. The side has three elephants and three snails representing water and fertility. A globular flared body rises with four attached handles of frog design. Antique betel nut box from the Philippines, composed of brass and nickel, with separate hinged compartments for the storage of various implements. The leftmost compartment is built up with slaked lime, which releases the alkaloids in the betel nut. The practice of betel nut chewing is common in many parts of South Asia. Slices of the areca nut would be wrapped in betel leaves and chewed, giving a mild stimulant effect.
