Antique Chinese jade amulet of a figure riding a fu-lion. Carved in relief with a background of swirling clouds. The figure appears to be a nobleman or scholar due to his hat and ruyi scepter but is possibly a Taoist deity. The stone is pierced near the top for the attachment of a cord. A striking orange color with red striations, it is beautifully worn and polished with age. Provenance: from a prominent Los Angeles estate.

An antique Japanese Ikebana basket in an open flat design with fine smoked split bamboo weave. Handle formed in a three layer splayed connection with those weaves conjuring a five Cicada form on each end. The three layers are bound by five wrapped connections with the top three forming a lucky auspicious knot. Raised footed ring wrapped in split bamboo.

Age: Meiji Era (1890-1910)

An antique Japanese Gyosho Bako (peddler's box) made of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. Original Urushi lacquer finish and bronze hand made hardware. Carrying handles through which a pole would be inserted with outer Japanese writing advertising the peddler. Straight Japanese dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nail construction. Four drawers of increasing heights from top to bottom.

An antique Japanese Kimono tansu made of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. Original natural Urushi lacquer finish in a 6 drawer configuration. Hand forged iron hardware with deep Warabite handles and full moon lock plates. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wood nails. 2 sets of side handles; one set swivels up allowing through a pole to carry from location to location and another set of handle pairs used for tansu placement.

A wonderful example of a carved an painted mid 18th C. Mongolian storage cabinet with flat table top surface. Still retains its original pigment with floral motif seen along with the floral handcarved drawer fronts. Footed base support legs float the chest off the ground. Very sturdy and strong in construction. All original hand forged iron is there and complete.

An antique Chinese country side chest in the Ming style made of Pine wood. Lacquer finish with two doors and two drawers. Nickel/brass hardware featuring a round medallion representing a coin which symbolizes wealth and prosperity. A removable shelf behind the doors. Constructed using double through mortise and tenon joinery for strength and durability.

It would make an elegant side table in any room decor.

A contemporary Chinese buffet chest in a red lacquer. Constructed using up cycled reclaimed wood of Pine and Elm providing a green footprint for the environment. Antique Japanese byobu screen painting in six panels depicting a scene of a pair of pheasants sitting on the branch of a weeping willow tree. Ever feather is painted with care as is every leaf on the cascading willow. Lichen grows on it's gnarled trunk and a river flows calmly by. New shoots of bamboo peek over a low lying gold mist and pink azaleas spring from the rocks near the water.

An antique Japanese bamboo Ikebana basket in a free-form cocoon style with a twisted bamboo rope foot. Flat split bamboo slats of smoked chestnut color in a vertical weave with a multi-node bamboo handle intertwined with a twisted bamboo rope. Artist signed at the base, Chiku Shusai.
