Japanese Antique Large Imari Porcelain Fish Plate
Large and unusual Japanese antique fish plate. Made to look as if one fish overlaps the other with raised details such as fins and eyes. The large white fish is further decorated with blossoming branches, butterflies and a small bird with gold details. The bottom fish is orange with blue fins and intricate scales painted in gold. Scrolling vines and peony flowers decorate the rim of the underside of the plate.

Age: Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Horizontal ribs on the doors and side of the tansu for strength and visual design. Constructed using through mortise and tenon Japanese joinery showing the fine craftsmanship used in making this piece.

Antique Japanese Ishidoro - stone temple garden lantern hand carved out of granite in 6 sections. The lotus base is carved so that it is still connected to the hexagonal stone. The lantern section is similar in style to a hanging lantern with its curling warabite corner roof and pointed finial over a hollow hexagonal light box. This style of Ishidoro originates from the Kasuga Shinto shrine which give it the nickname Kasuga-doro. Age: Edo/Meiji period

An antique Japanese Kutani sleeping cat known as Nemuri Neko that was hand made and hand painted. Delicate free-form feathered gold lattice pattern decorating its back with a persimmon colored collar around its neck. Peaceful somber face displaying a calm dream-like state as time and the world around it passes by. Fine details include its defined toes and claws of its right front foot and its rear left paw that is peeking from under its upward curled tail.
