Beautifully small painting of a woman and a man, the story being that the man married a woman of a much higher class. The man is crouched near a stream with tea cup in hand. Antique Japanese bronze hibachi decorated with dragons and chickens. The chickens have their wings spread as they give the illusion they are flying out of the body. The dragons walk across the body of the vessel. There are three small feet with incised scrolling designs. It measures 9" tall, 13" wide at the mouth, 18" wide from handle to handle. Meiji period, 1868-1912.

Chinese cloisonne horse decorated with archaic geometric designs often seen in Chinese bronzes from the Republic period with motifs of chrysanthemums and phoenixes. The saddle is decorated with a scrolling vine design with chrysanthemums recalling central Asian motifs. The bridle is decorated with small plum blossoms. Age: 20th century. Chinese Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - A.D. 220) bronze lidded censor, round form, on three legs, incised characters on both front and back sides, handles on either side, beautiful patina, sits on beautifully carved hardwood stand made later during the 19th century. Total size: 6 3/4" high x 8 1/4" wide including handles. Bronze alone is 6 1/4" high

Chinese antique hardwood cabinet with interior shelving. The cabinet doors are carved with pine trees and bamboo. The lower egister is carved with a rectilinear design. The bottom has a fan, a bat, and a lychee branch.

Antique Chinese hardwood table carved with incredible handcarved flowering plum blossoms details on branches that crawl up the table legs. The table top is inlaid with a piece of stunning white grey marble.

Late 19th Century

A fine embroidery depicting a group of chickens. Embroideries, known as shishu in Japanese, were done on various fabrics and clothing. It was only later during the late 19th century that embroideries were appreciated for their artistic quality and were often framed or mounted on scrolls. The embroidery on the back contains an inscription which reads: Present ( or gift) September of the tenth year of Taisho (1921) (Presented by) the Imperial government of Japan. A marvelous three panel table screen done in a combination of Chinese hardwood and porcelain blanc de chine style panels. The central panel is an image of chrysanthemums in full bloom, the left panel is depicting bamboo and the right panel is a branch with dogwood-like flowers with a vine attached to its branches. Glass panels are used to protect the fine detailed work of the panels. Age: 20th century Size: Length" 16.26" Width: 9.6" Height: 7.75"

A rather unusual fan painting (senmen) portraying an image of a dragon rising above the clouds done using fingers. The tradition of finger painting is thought to have originated from China. Eccentric literati artists used their fingers instead of the brush to become one with the painting. Work contains a signature and seal by an artist named Sonsen. Additionally, the inscription on the fan reads: finger painted by Sonsen. Age: Early 20th century Size: Height 55.5" Length 27.5"
