An antique Japanese Wood Buddhist altar fitting known as a keman. The hand fan like shape were thought to have originated from flower garland offerings seen in India. Beautiful Chinese brush washer carved in the form of two peaches , carved from a piece of lovely pale agate with yellow striations, intricate details of curling leaves and tiny bats inside the large peach and on the outside of the small peach, the bottom is carved with more little bats, the brush washer sits on a wooden stand carved in the shape of entwined lotus leaves. Mid 20th century. Size of agate: 5 1/4" wide
