An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hikute style handles. Two front sliding doors open to 10 drawers of varying sizes including a large open compartment where business books and documents were stored.

A rare large Ainu artisan carved Hokkaido black bear (Higuma) made from one solid piece of Japanese hardwood. Intricate carving to the fur including the underside of the bear. Eyes made of Obsidian. Minor wear.

Antique Japanese tall Satsuma ware vase. Covered in a white crackle glaze and painted with designs of blossoming cherry branches. Extensive raised gold enamel, brightly colored patterns and delicate butterflies.

Antique Japanese sculpture of a hawk coming to rest on top of a gnarled rock. Wings spread wide, the hawk grips the rock with it's talons. Each feather is intricately carved.

Antique Chinese bitong (brush pot) carved of hardwood with beautiful grain patterns. The mouth and foot of the container have a fine cusped edge. The bottom is carved with three low feet. The bitong has a pleasing overall shape with a slight flare towards the top.

Large Chinese yellow Peking glass vase. Dramatic baluster form with tall neck and rounded foot. The rim displays how many layers of glass it took to create this vase. The color is a vivid golden/yellow color previously reserved for imperial use.

Chinese hardwood ruyi scepter carved in the shape of a stylized lingzhi. Decorated with writing and designs of fruit, bats, fish, lingzhi mushrooms and other symbols of good fortune. Ruyi scepters were used by the noble class to hold or display as a symbols of power and good fortune and they were used by Buddhist monks in teaching. And later ruyi scepters became a traditional gift and prized object for the scholar's table.

An antique Japanese Kyodai (mirror stand) made of beautiful Toneriko (Ash) wood. Articulated swivel mirror opens to a compartment of drawers, shelves and a removable tray where make-up and beauty supplies were stored. Hand mirror slides into its holding slot along the side wall. Original bronze hardware. Side carrying handles were hand carved to depict seashells. Mirror has wear to silver.

An antique Japanese Kotansu (document chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the unusual side carrying handles which when swiveled up, allowed a wooden pole through it allowing two persons to transport it. Straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nail construction.
