An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware with naturally acquired patina. Used by a store owner to keep business supplies, money and valuables, store business records and writing tools. The hinged security door has two small drawers of which the bottom drawer hides a secret box.

An antique Japanese Sendai Tansu chest made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and Urushi lacquer finish. Four large drawers and two small drawers with an additional two drawers behind the hinged security door. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails. Beautiful wood grain with Warabite style handles.

An antique Japanese Matsumoto Isho Tansu chest made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and wiped lacquer finish. Five drawers of varying sizes, 3 full width drawers for Kimono storage and 2 small drawers for Kimono accessories. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wood nails.

Japanese hardwood naturalist leaf tray. Leaf is carved both sides, accenting the natural twist of the wood. Finished with warm tone.

An antique Japanese stacking Gyosho Bako (peddler's box) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron fittings with replacement cord. Seven stacking trays with a bottom eighth section housing an additional tray for products and a drawer where store supplies and money were kept. Top cover would be turned over to use as a product demonstration tray. Each tray has a recessed bottom that secures it to the underside tray. Constructed with hardened wooden nails.

Rare Edo period Japanese safe chest with double locks and quick lock setting. Frame is made up of hinoki (cypress) wood and interior is made of kiri wood. Original finish with hand forged iron hardware. Single hinged door with iron reinforcement crossed the front.
