Japanese Small Shigaraki Jar
Truly beautiful Japanese antique small earthenware jar from the Shigaraki kiln. Made from the red clay of Lake Biwa, this jar is covered with a thick mineral glaze which has dripped and pooled. It has a lip which has been dimpled for pouring and a wonderful indented area that has been blackened in the firing process. The ash glaze on the lip and on the inside is a lovely green color. Unusual Antique Japanese Gilt Lacquer Pillow
An exquisite Japanese pillow, the body woven with red pigment lacquer, the ends lacquered in black with gilt lacquer. One end depicts the mythical creature Baku, said to devour bad dreams. The other end is a floral scene with beautiful nashiji gold flakes.

Rare Japanese chirimen silk kimono with a jacquard weave, in gradating shades of blue, with Shibori designs of flowers and flowing water, lined in salmon pink silk with flowers. Shibori is a very labor intensive style of dying fabric in which small areas are tied and twisted to create dramatic patterns.
