Japanese antique Kyoto raku ware chawan tea bowl with black and red glaze. Decorated with two kiri blossoms; one large and one smaller. The flowers are the bare clay of the bowl. The glaze has been thickly applied, resulting in a lush dripping effect. Probably by Iohiniu. Collector's label #2.

Japanese antique mizusashi ceramic water container for making tea. It has a square form with rounded edges and ribbed sides. With black, almost dark green and brown glaze and with splashes of yellow in dramatic drips. The lid is unusual in that it's made of jichimu, a valued Chinese hardwood.

Striking antique kutani yaki (九谷焼) plate featuring a central image of pheasants beneath blooming chrysanthemums, symbols of nobility and longevity in Japanese art. The design is set against a geometric scale-patterned background, bordered by vivid alternating green, red, and gold geometric motifs, and presented on a scalloped rim form.

A vintage Kutani plate designed with 9 scalloped sides with a main image depicting a pair of pheasants next to lovely Chrysanthemums. The background shows stylized Japanese waves and feather-like design surrounding the 9 geometric diamond shapes. The back side features an arabesque design of flowers with vines.

This plate was made by the Japanese Kutani artist Temekichi Mitsui, III, born 1935 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.

Japanese bronze vase with a rich patina and detailed high-relief design of two koi carp swimming in circular motion, their eyes inlaid with fine gilt or mixed metal detail. Japanese antique carving of a dragon. Carved of hinoki wood, lacquered and painted with gold and polychrome mineral pigments. This dragon once graced the inside of a Buddhist shrine in a prominent household or temple. Both the carving and the painting is masterfully done with details to the individual scales, long metal whiskers and reverse-painted-glass eyes.
Symbolic of strength, power and transformation, the dragon can also represent nobility and wisdom.

Japanese antique hinoki wood panel carved with lush blossoming peonies. Painted with gold lacquer, the flowers stand out against the black lacquer frame.
This carving would have once graced the inside of a Buddhist household shrine. The peony flowers symbolize beauty, wealth and prosperity and are associated with samurai families as a symbol of honor and bravery.
