Antique Japanese Buddhist Womb of the World Mandala Scroll Painting. Dated early 18th century with temple in Kyoto. Central figure of Buddha immediately surrounded by eight immortal attendants. Rows of attendants repeating on surface of painting. Painted in mineral colors and gold ink on silk. Mounted as a scroll with a light blue silk border and copper ends.

Unusual Japanese Kiri wood stacking box, comprised of 9 shallow compartments for the storage of calligraphy implements. The edges of each compartment are reinforced with hand-forged iron plates. The lowermost compartment has a single pull out drawer with a kakute iron pull and lock.

Antique hardwood Japanese strong box with hand forged iron banding and hard mounts. Original finish and condition. The lid bears the mon or family crest of the Hori Clan.

Japanese dark lacquered Funa Tansu, or ship safe box with heavy hand-forged iron hardware and plates. The interior of the box holds six small drawers opened by kan (ring) pulls, one with a lock plate. The piece has a warabite handle for carrying on top.

Japanese Buddhist Zushi (portable shrine) with bright red lacquered wood exterior and gilt interior. Shrine with the statue of sitting Fudo Myoo, the fierce deity with his pair of attendants, is seated on a craggy outcropping. The double doors decorated scrolling gilt metal work.

Japanese Sashimono war banner, to be worn attached to the back of a samurai's armor by special fittings. In the form of a group of medicine gourd bottles in gold gilt lacquer. The largest gourd stands the tallest on top of the Sashimono pole surrounded by smaller gourd bottles. The Sashimono captures the high drama of the fully outfitted samurai warrior in all of his glory. Mounted on steel plates and armature wire.

Hand-forged iron Jizai Okimono articulated spiny lobster. Each iron plate is carefully repousse hammered, creating a natural realism. The lobster is fully splayed on steel plates and armature wire. All ten legs and long antenna and articulated with multiple joints on each leg. Exquisitely crafted, showing off a very high skill of the metal worker. With artist signature underneath the lobster.

A large architectural Buddhist temple carving of a Dragon (Ryu), with reverse glass painted eyes. The dragon clutches a smooth clear quartz crystal ball in its 3 point sharp claws. The high relief carvings show the dragon's body coiled behind clouds of smoke and waves. Dragons are the powerful embodiment of yin and yang and are seen as a symbol of power, strength, and good luck for people that are worthy.

Stunning set of ten Japanese Ya (arrow) Yumi hawk feather and reed arrows with gold gilt lacquer and iron tips. Once used to shoot long distances by long bow primarily before the main introduction of firearms by the Portuguese in 1543. The "no" (shaft of the arrows are made from yadake bamboo and can have different shapes – straight, or tapering, these being straight.

Japanese two section futon tansu made with solid Keyaki (zelkova) hardwood. The top section holds a large open compartment behind two sliding Keyaki burl front panels with openwork carvings. Below are three drawers with mokko shaped iron pulls. The bottom section has another pair of sliding panels with horizontal slats.
