Antique Japanese iron tsuba (sword fitting). Depicting three water buffalo resting in the shade of the weeping willow tree. Details of sprouted wild grasses and flowers in gold. Finely detailed, each water buffalo is raised and has gold inlaid eye. Very and well made, smaller size than most tsuba.

Edo Natural Wood Tsuba Signed Morichika
Antique Japanese iron tsuba depicting a newt, with eyes of gold on natural wood. Silver spider web falling maple leafs.
Signed Tsuchiya Morichika who was active in the Edo period. Morichika worked in Okayama in Bizen province, and later in Osaka. He is the son of Noriyuki (H 05810), and a student of the sixth Tsuchiya Yasuchika (H 11109). There are dated works from 1850, 1858, and 1859.

Japanese antique lacquer inro with five reserve scenes of landscapes and implements most likely representing the Seven Lucky Gods. The inro has rounded edges and is almost oval in form. It has five sections (four compartments) and is lacquered entirely in very fine gold nashiji. There are 3 scenes on one side and 2 on the other in raised maki-e lacquer.
