Antique Chinese guan pi xiang (document box), made of huanghuali hardwood and finely cut brass plate mounts and hinges. The top opens and is held in place by a small chain. The doors open to reveal 7 drawers of different sizes. Each drawer has been fitted with jewelry tray inserts covered in white raw silk.

Korean two-level hardwood kitchen cabinet, made with bold grain elm wood panels. The piece holds two small drawers along its topmost sections and an upper and lower compartment behind its two pairs of front swinging doors. Fitted with hand-forged iron hardware and plates.

Choson Period

Dimensions: 45 1/2" x 20 1/4" x 56 3/4" H

A large Korean bedside chest or Morijang. The top of the chest holds a row of 3 drawers with hinged double doors below, and a row of four drawers along the very bottom of the piece. Motifs of butterflies and auspicious symbols are seen throughout the hardware plating. The interior holds a single curved shelf with decorating metal plating and a locking mechanism to hold its front doors securely shut.

A massive Japanese solid Keyaki (elm) hardwood Kannon Biraki merchant's chest. Decorated with hand-forged iron plating, the motifs seen throughout the piece's hardware include the image of Ebisu, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Fortune, proudly holding up a freshly caught fish, a large Mokko (melon) shaped lock on the front pair of doors, with flowers and pine trees adorning the drawer below in the form of its lock and handle plates. Antique Korean white brass jewelry box, its lid with inlaid motif of an auspicious character meaning wealth or prosperity. Interior lined with wood. The rectangular box stands on four stylized feet.

Rare antique Tibetan painted chest with a trapezoid form, with lift away lid, and leather straps. The front of the chest is hand-painted in pigments of red, green, yellow, depicting a mythical creature with conch shell and flowers.

Mid to Late 18th Century

Dimensions: 54" L (widest point) 40" L (narrowest point), 17 1/2" D x 26" H

Chinese porcelain water coupe, with a monochrome oxblood red underglaze. The rounded, half circle form has a short, fluted neck, and flattened recessed base with blue signature.

Republic Period

Dimensions: 5 1/4" x 4" H

Japanese two section isho tansu (clothing chest) from the Sado Island area. Original dark reddish lacquer finish. With hand-forged iron hardware, decorative plating incised with motifs of cranes and turtles with many tails, both symbols of longevity. The lower unit holds a corner safe box with two small drawers concealed inside.
