Chinese hardwood ruyi scepter carved in the shape of a stylized lingzhi. Decorated with writing and designs of fruit, bats, fish, lingzhi mushrooms and other symbols of good fortune. Ruyi scepters were used by the noble class to hold or display as a symbols of power and good fortune and they were used by Buddhist monks in teaching. And later ruyi scepters became a traditional gift and prized object for the scholar's table.

Articulated swivel mirror opens to a compartment of drawers, shelves and a removable tray where make-up and beauty supplies were stored. Hand mirror slides into its holding slot along the side wall. Original bronze hardware. Side carrying handles were hand carved to depict seashells. Mirror has wear to silver.
