A set of two Japanese antique tansu comprised of two sections, with attractive burl wood sliding panels, kiri wood fronts with iron mokko ("melon") handles and round lockplates. Antique Indonesian heavy piece of burl wood, with a large hole in its middle that may have been used as a mortar and pestle. The hole appears to have been worn through to the bottom over time. Size: 15" height, 24" width

The desk's surface has multiple carvings done by school children, such as an arrow through a heart containing a short love sentiment in kanji.
