An unusually large size bronze rain drum from Laos, a Herger type three drum. Reference material “The Karen Bronze drum of Burma” by Richard M. Cooler. It has an unusual 3 frogs (twelve altogether) on top with a ten pointed star with continuing concentric circle and stamped designs. The side has three elephants and three snails representing water and fertility. A globular flared body rises with four attached frog design handles.

Antique amitung (door board) for a dwelling or ceremonial house of the Telefolmin people who live in the southern portion of Sandaun (West Sepik) Province of Papua New Guinea. This large door board is made of a single piece of wood and has an opening for people to enter and exit. Antique Southeast Asian wood carving of the head of a makara. The Hindu water creature has the head of an elephant/deer and the body of a crocodile (or water monitor) giving it a dragon-like/serpentine appearance. Makara are often seen guarding entrances to holy spaces. This makara head was most likely once part of a temple. The Vahana (vehicle) of the goddess Ganga is a makara. With custom metal stand.

Antique Philippine long wooden low bench-like slab for agricultural work. With shallow, circular mortar on one end for processing grain or seed. Stands on two low feet.

Antique Philippine container cover most likely from the Ifugauo people and part of a punamhan (ceremonial ritual) box or a pukok rice container. Carved with a guardian figure in relief. Confidently hewn with sure chisel marks and dark patina.

An antique Papau New Guinea Yipwon figure of the Alamblak people. Anthropomorphic opposing hook style hardwood carving. A large one such as this was collectively owned by clans and worshipped to bring victory to battles and success during hunting. The Yipwon is the patron spirit of warfare and hunting. Custom metal fabricated stand supports the figure.

Antique Burmese/Thai religious text in book form. Written in ink on paper, folded and and bound so that the pages accordion and are covered with writing on both front and back. The covers of the book are embossed and lacquered with red covered with gold which has gained a lovely patina over time.

An antique Thai Manuscript Storage Cabinet made of Teak that was used to store and preserve Buddhist scriptures that were written on manuscripts made of palm-leaf as well as text on Buddhism written on Khoi paper. Often donated by wealthy patrons to monasteries, they housed these venerable writings. It was decorated using a technique called Lai Rod Nam that is gold on a black lacquer ground.
