Monumental Thai Chua, Triangular Architectural Pediment with Monkeys
An incredible monumental triangular architectural pediment, chua from Thailand. Carved of wood in high relief, the design is of scrolling peony vines entwining monkey figures. The anthropomorphized monkeys, dressed in clothing and with human hands, are suggestive of the Hindu deity, Hanuman. A rare antique Vietnamese four-legged Censer from the Le dynasty. (Later Le Dynasty, Vietnamese Nha Hau Le, (1428–1788), the greatest and longest lasting dynasty of traditional Vietnam.) The white glazed ceramic censer has a cylindrical body with lappet band above molded trigrams. The vessel is raised on four zoomorphic supports. Antique Vietnamese Bowl with Incised Lotus Petals
A monochrome porcelain Vietnamese bowl from the 14th-16th Century. The clear ivory glaze has an incised design of a flower with 2 lines above it. The exterior of the bowl has a carved lotus pattern that extends to the bowl's small footing. During the 14th century, a second stacking method for firing was introduced using a ring-shape separator.
