Rare Burl Keyaki Japanese  Ishikawa Fune Ship Chest
Japanese Rare Ishikawa Fune Tansu. Full face as well as inside drawer fronts are made up of burl keyaki hardwood. Frame is 100% keyaki hardwood with kiri wood inside drawer construction. All edges are clad in hand forged iron for added protection. These are said to be made so well, that if the ship were to sink, this chest would float just below the surface for retrieval. This is a very rare and wonderful Japanese funa-dansu (sea chest for ship) example.

Antique Pair Fusuma Painted Doors
Antique pair of Japanese fusuma doors. Hand painted interior doors with solid hinoki Japanese cypress wood paneling. Painted of white, green, red, and brown natural pigments. Frames are lacquered red. Original metal pulls. Depicting blossoming chrysanthemums along with a sleeping white cat.

Unusual Antique Japanese lacquered Low table
Antique Japanese low three legged natural slab top table. All surfaces are covered by layers and layers of lacquer. Top is finished smooth revealing each layer. The Japanese lacquer technique of layering multiple thin coats of lacquer on a substrate is used to create low tables, or zataku, and other decorative objects. The technique is called wakasa'nuri and involves applying various shades of lacquer and then sanding it down to create a natural pattern.

Japanese Dragon and Tiger Carved Panel
Japanese Room divider to create privacy in a large room. Carved in detail on both sides. Dragon and tiger are seen together balance together as representing the forces of the universe and the yin to those very forces.
On the flip side, three well carved heavenly flying apsaras are symbolized. Amounts the clouds, each angel is depicted holding there own instrument, sho flute, drum, biwa (four-stringed lute with a short neck) floating above blooming peonies.

An antique Japanese sewing box called Haribako in the traditional form made of Toneriko (Ash) and Kurinoki (Walnut). The main body features 5 drawers of varying sizes where sewing accoutrements were stored.
