Antique Japanese Choba Tansu Gifu 2 Section Meiji
An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) in 2 sections made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and constructed using hardened wood nails. Upper section features 2 sliding doors behind which the merchants business records were stored. The bottom section has 2 sliding doors where additional merchant books were kept. There are 2 small drawers hidden behind the small hinged door.

An antique Japanese Isho Tansu in 3 sections made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original bronze hardware and hardened wood nail construction. Upper section features 2 sliding doors behind which a split level shelf and small drawer resides. The center section features hinged doors that hides 4 Kimono trays. The bottom section features 3 full width drawers for additional textile storage.

Japanese bronze vase with a rich patina and detailed high-relief design of two koi carp swimming in circular motion, their eyes inlaid with fine gilt or mixed metal detail. The form is full and balanced, allowing the fish to appear as if moving fluidly through water. Edo Japanese Antique Ryu Dragon Carving
Japanese antique carving of a dragon. Carved of hinoki wood, lacquered and painted with gold and polychrome mineral pigments. This dragon once graced the inside of a Buddhist shrine in a prominent household or temple. Both the carving and the painting is masterfully done with details to the individual scales, long metal whiskers and reverse-painted-glass eyes.
Symbolic of strength, power and transformation, the dragon can also represent nobility and wisdom.

Japanese Antique Small Gyosho Bako with Red Mon
Japanese antique gyosho bako (peddler's box) decorated with a large mon (family crest) in red lacquer on a black urushi lacquer ground. The front of the box has a door that opens to reveal three small drawers. Extensive bronze hardware includes corner bracing along all edges and carrying handles.
