This unusual me-no-shita type (half face, literally “under the eyes”) samurai mask features a fine hammered surface that is embossed to create lengthy, deep, and sharp wrinkles across the entire face. The nose is rather large, and the chin has a very rare natural split indicating samurai had this as well as is indication menpo made by Myōchin armorers.

Large antique Japanese original playable taiko drum. Constructed of knarly burl keyaki hardwood, deer skin, and hand forged iron hardware.
