Antique Thai Buddhist amulet, Phra Somdej "King of Amulets". The amulet itself is made of baked clay in the form of a seated Buddha or Bodhisattva. It is enclosed in an unusually fine silver metal case with intricate incised designs. Phra Somdej are important in that they are believed to bring the wearer wealth, good health, good fortune, social and romantic success, Karmic merit, and protection from harm or danger.

Antique Balinese Barong mask. The masked figure in Topeng dance dramas represents a protective spirit, a symbol of health and good fortune and is used during dance celebrations. This mask is carved of wood and painted with colors and gold details. Mounted on a metal stand.

Original pair of antique Thai cast bronze recumbent temple deer with three stag antlers. Each deer sits flat to the floor. Original bronzed patina, consistent with age. Balinese antique pair of Dwarapala temple guardians. Carved of stone, these figures once guarded a temple entrance, a warning to humans and negative energies not to pass. An unusually large size bronze rain drum from Laos, a Herger type three drum. Reference material “The Karen Bronze drum of Burma” by Richard M. Cooler. It has an unusual 3 frogs (twelve altogether) on top with a ten pointed star with continuing concentric circle and stamped designs. The side has three elephants and three snails representing water and fertility. A globular flared body rises with four attached frog design handles.

Antique amitung (door board) for a dwelling or ceremonial house of the Telefolmin people who live in the southern portion of Sandaun (West Sepik) Province of Papua New Guinea. This large door board is made of a single piece of wood and has an opening for people to enter and exit. Antique Southeast Asian wood carving of the head of a makara. The Hindu water creature has the head of an elephant/deer and the body of a crocodile (or water monitor) giving it a dragon-like/serpentine appearance. Makara are often seen guarding entrances to holy spaces. This makara head was most likely once part of a temple. The Vahana (vehicle) of the goddess Ganga is a makara. With custom metal stand.
