Japanese antique burl hand warmer, typically used in the tea ceremony where each participant would have their own charcoal heater. Nowadays, this container (hibachi) can be used to store all manner of small items and makes a delightful table top accessory.

Japanese antique scroll container used by a samurai of the Maeda Clan to transport important documents. The interior cylinder is made of bamboo covered with gilded paper brocade and extensive decorative copper reinforcements. The copper has traces of gilt and is incised with the Maeda Family crest as well as designs of pine, bamboo and plum (The Three Friends of Winter, Sho Chiku Bai). With kiri tomobako.

Antique pink peking glass scalloped edge cup, with molded inset base. Flared out rim Attractive color. Size: 2.5" H x 5" Diameter. Good condition. Republic Period.

An antique Japanese Matsumoto Kimono Tansu made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand made iron fittings including stylized Mokko handles with unusual front drawer corner decorative plates. Each side has its main swivel carrying handles where a bamboo pole slipped through and two attendants on each side would easily transport this chest. The two lower hand handles would be used to position and place the tansu. Two small drawers hide behind the hinged door.

An antique rare Japanese Ko Tansu (Personal Storage Chest) made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Raden (Mother of Pearl) inlay over a burlap black Urushi lacquer foundation. A floral design showcasing a landscape scene of a full moon peeking over mystic clouds with birds in flight and in the water. A footbridge is being crossed by scholars with Wisteria above and Plum trees balancing out the design.

An antique Japanese Gyosho Tansu also known as a merchant peddler's chest made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Five drawers behind the hinged front door and a sixth drawer below the door. The sides have upper iron cord holding rings and cord holes at the bottom which allowed the merchant to carry this tansu on his back while transporting his wares. All original hand made iron hardware.

Dramatic Chinese Kangxi Period blue and white vase with a cylindrical body narrowing to a straight neck and a flanged lip, ribbon designs on the neck, galloping Manchu Warriors carrying battle banners, base with a circle mark, all decoration in underglaze blue with three subtle hues.

Contemporary uses include using it as a bedside nightstand or complementing any room as a side table.

A mid century Chinese Buffet or Console Chest or cabinet made entirely of Chinese Hauli wood. Two double hinged doors open to a spacious storage area that includes 2 shallow drawers and 2 large compartments. Four side by side drawers along the top gives additional storage to this piece. Hand made bronze fittings and floating panels on all sides. For function and versatility, it would also work well as an entertainment center.
